A Reading by Amy

Created by Alison 4 years ago
As you all know, Dad was a lifelong fan and admirer of Bruce Lee. You may not be aware that he was also a keen poet and Dad was very familiar with and enjoyed his work.
I have taken lines from several of Bruce Lee’s poems to create a reading that I feel Dad would approve of, and which also resonate with Mum, Lucy and I very much. They refer to the common themes of love, flexibility, making an effort with the things that matter, letting go of the things that don’t and acceptance.

Love is like a friendship caught on fire. In the beginning a flame, very pretty, often hot and fierce, but still only light and flickering. As love grows older our hearts mature, and our love becomes as coals, deep burning and unquenchable.
My wife and I arent one and one. We are two halves that make a whole. You have to apply yourself to be a family. Two halves fitted together are more efficient than either half would be alone.

Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless, like water Put water into a cup, it becomes the cup
Put water into a bottle, it becomes the bottle
Put water into a teapot, it becomes the teapot Water can flow or creep or drip or crash
Be water my friend.

Like everyone else, you want to learn the way to win, but never to accept the way to lose, to accept defeat, to learn to die is to be liberated from it. So when tomorrow comes, you must free your ambitious mind, and learn The Art of Dying.

The key to immortality is first living a life worth remembering.
