Written and read by Lucy all about the highlights of her Dad's life from the perspective of her and Amy as children.

Our Dad

Our…Dad has a BIG bushy beard
It tickles when he blows zerberts on our tummies
He scrags us until we cry, we find it VERY funny!

Our…Dad is a mechanic, fixing cars in Grampy’s garage
He comes home all covered in grease and needs to clean up
Making discombobulated shapes behind the shower curtain

Our…Dad is just like Bruce Lee, except in MUCH shorter shorts!
In our garden is where he trains at his Martial Arts
He rides his bike, fights with sticks and EVEN wins trophies
Sometimes, when no one’s watching, the nun chucks come out
That is when the REAL fun begins, until he hits his shins!

Our…Dad drives MASSIVE lorries
He even brought one home, back and forth to London
He drives them ALL on his own

Our…Dad digs the BEST holes, big enough for two
For a shiny new extension with ALL mod cons
Patio doors, hi fi speakers and dial up internet
But tucked under the stairs was where you would find him
Headphones on, lights off, with fizzy sweets playing computer games

Our…Dad is a Fireman
He wears a BRIGHT yellow hat, saving people’s lives
He drives the engine really fast (and dangerous) on blue lights
Dad calls “Don’t forget to leave your shoes by the door girls”
His alerter beeps, and off we go, straight to Nanny’s House

Our…Dad is a DIY grand master
He mackles anything together you might need
              With only the odd disaster
Building a house from scratch is not for the faint hearted
But if anyone could, our Dad would

Our…Dad is a speed dare devil
Wind in his face as he zips down the country lanes
Arms round his waist, holding on tight, on a bright summer’s day

Our…Dad is a BIG dreamer
A man with a plan, homes to build, money to make
Canals to venture along and everything in between
No stone goes unturned, no avenue unexplored
All being researched. With spreadsheets and notes all written out
But only for those who can figure his writing out

Our…Dad is SUPER chilled
New avenues to explore, a yogi master
Meditation guru, an Ice man extraordinaire

Our…Dad is a fighter of BIG battles
Always doing his best, fighting a good clean fight
Making us all SO proud, pushing himself to the extreme
Feeling the fear, and doing it anyway

Our…Dad is a Grandad
As proud as he can be, Baby fighting to the max
Crawling around on the floor and playing silly games
And when it’s time to settle down a story is in order
Warm, cosy and safe, all snuggled up on the sofa
