Adam 10th May 2020

My first memory of Tony is when I was visiting my good friends Sam and Amy. I got to stop in the very impressive and beautiful home Tony had not long finished building. I remember being warmly welcomed into Alison and Tony's home, making a fuss of their gorgeous dogs Chester and Billy and sleeping on the floor of the living room by the dying embers of their beautiful fireplace. Over a number of other visits, on the lead up to Sam and Amy's wedding, I got to know "Weekend" Tony. These visits involved a fair amount of drinks and plenty of laughs, but I will keep the stories for another time. It wasn't until I became Lucy's boyfriend, just over seven years ago, that I started to get to know Tony well though. We had the opportunity to make many lovely memories as a family on holidays, days out and just sitting around each other's houses chatting, putting the world to rights. Our discussions and debates on anything and everything will be one thing I miss dearly. I have always admired Tony's ability to focus on the things he wants from life, be it big or small. He would do things to the extreme to get the result he desired. Most recently, during his fight with IPF, I found his resolve and his philosophical outlook admirable. I hope I have learned a thing or two from him on how to deal with adversity and make the most of life. Over those years I had the privilege to see Tony become not only my Father-in-law and Grandad to my son but also a close friend. I would like to say thank you Tony. Thank you for the debates, laughs, memories, love and support over the years. Thanks to you and Alison for raising a wonderful daughter that has given me a family and made my life complete. I will be forever in your debt and you will be sorely missed.
